Minneapolis Wedding Photographer | New Website

i apologize for my recent blog absence, but wanted to share some exciting news … we have been working hard in our “down season” on a new website and will be launching very soon!!  for all my 2010 clients awaiting their blog debut, stayed tuned … i promise i will be blogging again soon!

here is a sneak peak into my brand new website {still in progress}…

Minneapolis Wedding Photographer | Aimee + Travis

travis’ voice trembled and tears started to fall as he read his vows to aimee.  after they were exchanged, their officiant replies with, “and they told me they weren’t nervous” … travis was quick to lean back into the mic and corrected her, cheeks wet and all, with … “i’m not nervous, she’s that special.”   A-mazing!  that is what defines my clients.  their love for each other, their sense of style and their passion for life!  aimee started the day melting my heart over the most gorgeous sparkly hot pink christian louboutin’s.  sparkly louibians!?  are you kidding me, what else could a girl ask for!!??  sign me up!  aimee and travis’s wedding ceremony was held at cowles conservatory in the minneapolis sculpture garden followed by a reception at the grand hotel, downtown minneapolis.  the details were not overlooked.  everything from the big yellow school bus to transport the wedding party, the hot pink umbrella (as it rained most of the day), their extravagant dessert table, the hundreds of martha stewart hot pink pom poms that hung from the ceiling in the ballroom,  the grooms dad’s use of travis’ old toys as props during his speech and their incredible choreographed 1st dance!!  we also caravanned to cafe lurcat  for a couple mini hamburgers, a cocktail and group shots!  thank you both for allowing me be apart of your day, i wish you years of love and happiness!

1.11.11 is today’s date.  And although a crazy number, its more than that, it marks a significant milestone in my family’s life.  This morning, my grandfather decided it was his time to go.  After his battle with dementia, he chose today, an infamous day, that will go down in history.  It was his way of adding that last touch of flair to his name.  Maurice Holland 5.10.32 – 1.11.11.  My grandfather was a strong, classy gentleman.  He treated everyone with respect and complimented you on the smallest things; he would never miss that stunning shade of blue you were wearing. My grandfather was a true Christian man; he dressed to the 9’s and went to church every Sunday with my grandmother.   He loved my grandmother and his two children to the moon and back and this morning he taught me a crazy spiritual lesson and the power of one’s soul.   When we got the call that grandpa probably wouldn’t make it through the night, he made it … then it was predicted within the next 24 hours, but he made it … that’s when my sister said she knew he was waiting, his goodbyes were not complete yet.  My uncle (his one and only son), his wife and two kids flew in from Montana at 1AM, drove to see Gramps (my nickname for him) and arrived at 4AM, grandpa took his last breath at 6AM.   A classy, religious man was waiting for his son.  Living through that experience was powerful … one I only heard of happening to others, but today I witnessed it.  Defying “expectations” Gramp’s wasn’t ready, because Gramp’s hadn’t said all of his goodbyes.  What a strong, classy man that Gramps was.  I love you to the moon and back Gramps!  xo

Minneapolis Wedding Photographer | Jessica + Aaron

i am thrilled to share jessica and aaron’s gorgeous wedding day with you via another blog!  she is beyond stunning and aaron truly has a genuine heart.  together their wedding day was a milestone that mended their family into one.  my heart has never been touched in such a way, when i witnessed jess’ son crying during the reading of their vows.  only to immediately follow the ceremony with his precious face filled with wet tears … aaron looked at him, leaned down, hugged jess’ son and asked “do you know what this means … ?”  he looked up and said “yes, now you’re my dad and i love you.”  and the tears fell.  never have i seen a family so close and so caring for their kids.  always a family, now just a bigger family, a family of four.  i wish you the best in life and the strongest bond one family can know.

Minneapolis Engagement Photographer | Megan + Tim

megan and tim are such an amazing couple, they were wonderful to photograph!!  i love when couples flirt and act like themselves in front of the camera; allowing me to capture their true personalities.  i also have a soft spot for props and tim’s mom was kind enough to donate a special little pumpkin for our shoot (or maybe it wasn’t intended for the shoot, but they brought it along and i loved it).  megan went to wisconsin and tim was a golden gopher … and although the schools are big rivals, megan and tim are a perfect team.  megan told me they wanted a combination of fall foliage and industrial type locations for their engagement shoot so we spent the day exploring cool new locations and i just love how they turned out.  we were even lucky enough to venture onto a rooftop and shoot the minneapolis skyline in the background.  megan was the absolute perfect model (a natural) … look at her in this first pic.  wow!  can’t wait to celebrate with you two and photograph your big day next year!

Minneapolis Wedding Photographer | Happy Holidays

thank you so much to all my fabulous clients!! you have given me a year that far exceeded my goals!!  who would have thought my 2010 goal would have doubled by year end?!  your word of mouth has really been contagious and i am incredibly grateful!!

you all have taught me so much!  invaluable lessons …  both wonderful and challenging.  i have learned  how to be a better photographer, how to love more,  how to laugh often.  i’ve learned the power my images can have on a client when they email letting me know they’ve been crying, i too have shed more tears (which often makes shooting difficult), and i’ve learned how big my heart really is, as i’ve created friendships with each and every one of you!

i’ve also learned it’s important to find thee perfect fit between clients and photographer, and to know its ok when it’s not.  i’ve learned the day ends at 24 hours and although i can function on very little sleep,  i still need to be a mom and wife first, photographer second.   so i want to thank my husband and son for being patient with me as i took on so much in 2010 and let them know that i would be nowhere without them.  they are my world.  family comes first and i love them more than anything!  i also need to thank my glorious parents, grandparents and sister for helping me and letting me edit while we drink wine/hang out on the weekends.  i apologize my time was so limited this year.

2011 brings new exciting things … i know i need to blog more (thank you to all my previous clients, who over email, have been begging for their regular blog fix … i am deeply flattered and promise they are coming this winter).   i know if i want to surpass my 2010 goals and grow i need to hire a creative director!  i am happy to announce my team will be growing in 2011 which should speed up my editing process and allow my family to have a little bit of brandis back.   i will also fess up to not holding true to my 2010 new years resolution, but i will reinstate the goal to launch a new website in 2011!

thank you again; i have been incredibly blessed to meet all of you and have fallen head over heels!

happy holidays!
